I extracted cpio file soa_linux_x86_103101_disk1.cpio
$cpio -iv < soa_linux_x86_103101_disk1.cpio

But all the folders generated are empty.
stage,install and doc are empty.

If i list the contents
$ cpio -itv < soa_linux_x86_103101_disk1.cpio

i can see the contents in the respective directories.
I cannot run runInstaller.

Try it as follows:
cpio -idvm < soa_linux_x86_103101_disk1.cpio
