Hi,
Although i have knowledge in the oracle database at mediocre level, I wish to learn in depth about the archtiectural components of the oracle database, performance tuning concepts and backup and recovery methodologies, i want to learn these in a very detailed manner, indepth analysis so that i can learn, practice,work to become an expert , could someone please suggest me books , probably starting from 9i.

If I were you, I would start by reading the Oracle manuals. However, if you want to buy a book, look at this site's books section.
