Hi
I installed Oracle 10g on Fedora core 1 . It was working fine except I could not run pro*C program

After that I installed oracle client (on same m/c ) on different home .It installed nicely .
But then i issued commend for start listner (insrctl start). It won't work . It is showing some oracle initialization error . Askin that home is not set properly .
I installed Oracle server and client on different home

Please help me

What would it be?
My best guess is you didnt set your ORACLE_HOME or your listener is not configured.

Why?
You dont need a seperate client in the same machine were database is created.

error 6 initialization

SP2-0750 you many need to set Oracle_home to your software directory

while installing I mention home . But I don't know still I am getting problems

You have set ORACLE_HOME , ORACLE_BASE in your profile or explicitly everytime.

something like
export ORACLE_HOME=youroracle_home
export ORACLE_BASE=youroracle_base
export PATH=$PATH:$ORACLE_HOME/bin
