Hi,
Is there any limit on the number of instance that can be hosted on a single database server.
We are planning to host 16 instances(Oracle 9.2) on a single machine which is IBM AIX 5L RS/6000 machine. Each database size is about 55GB.

This is a for server consolidation project.we are replacing old servers with new rs/6000 series with sufficient resources(CPU/memory etc).

Pls comment if any issues...

Hi,

This doesn't appear to be a RAC related question. Nevertheless, I've seen Unix machines with more than 200 databases on them - running smoothly without any issues. Obviously you need to size the environment correctly.

Best regards.
