i want to connect oracle 8i server installed on server machine at my office from a computer at remote location (any where, like my home) using internet (tcp/ip) ????

plz help

Not sure what you are asking, do you mean from a browser or sqlplus? You can access iSQLPLUS from a browser. "http://your_domain_or_ip/iSQLPLUS". Otherwise you need to set up a listener on your office machine, and then add your db info in the remote machine's TNSNAMES.ORA FILE.
BTW,
All remote connections to an Oracle database require TCP/IP protocol.
