We have three oracle servers that we have moved from our old company to the new company network.  They have to be renamed from the old name to the new name structure for the network, new IP addresses and domain.

When we rename the server in windows 2k, the Oracle 8 servers do not load the Oracle Agents, the listener does not start, even if we go and edit the files in NetworkAdmin.

When I name the server back to the original name on oracle 8, they still do not run. I can manually restart the databases using SQL Plus and DOS commands.

The Oracle 9 box has the same problem when I rename it, but when I named it back, it seemed to run okay.

Questions are:

1) How do I go about renaming an Oracle 8 server so it will run correctly?

2) How do I get Oracle 8 to run automatically after having changed the server names and then changed them back?
