Hi,

I have installed Personel Oracle8.1.5 in an Stand alone PC by selecting Client Installation option. When I completed my Installation I have given a service name also but there is no option to start database unlinke in Oracle7. When I go to SQL Prompt by entering Scott/Tiger or Scott/Tiger@ORCL it is giving error like,

- ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
and
- ORA-03114: TNS:no Listener
and many messages.

Please help me...

I will be very much thankful.

Did you select only Client Option??
Then, I suppose any DB was created, so if net service name "ORCL" refer to a local DB you are trying to connect to something that not exist.
I suggest to re-install with DB option.
