i am connecting a remote server by tns.

mu tnsping works correctly

but when i am connecting it thru sql then
it says 'name lookup failure'

i have made change in tnsnames.ora also but even
it is not working.

it is required urgently.

first,Ensure that you can ping the server and client by its ip address and hostname from the server and client machine.

Ensure that your client and server machine includes the client & server ip address and hostname in its HOSTS file.

If problem still persists, enable client tracing to level 16 for additional details.
