Hi,
I am using win 98 with Oracle 8.1.7 and give me TNS Adapter Error
If I use Oracle 8.0.4, I can login to SQL Plus using Scott/Tiger.
Which part should I change?
Thanks!

Make sure you're pointing to the right TNSNAMES.ORA

The location of the TNSNAMES.ORA file, would be as follows:

For 8.0.4 it would normally be the C:..<Oracle>Net80admin

For 8i version(s), the installation path would be something like C:..<Oracle>NetworkAdmin

madhavi apu,

i am facing the same prob in my windows98 pc (without any network/ internet connection).

in Oracle8, connecting with local db through "beq" protocol.
but in Oracle8i 8.1.7, no "beq" protocol is available.

is it possible to connect with local db through another protocol such as tcp/ ipc/ etc what are available in my Oracle8i 8.1.7 version? if possible, can you pls tell me the detail procedure to solve my problem?

Thanks/
Tareq.
