Hi all, is any way to configure a failover if the instance fails before the connection? which means I have two instances on different nodes, and if one instance fails before I use sqlplus from client side to connect it, it will failover to the other instance. A failover when instance fails after the connection will not allow new connections. Thanks

If you are using external HA s/w such as
Veritas HA , then all you need to do is to
configure the TNSNAMES.ORA with a ip called
floating ip.
