We have just recently moved our Oracle 8.0.6.3.0 database to another server. During the execuation of a procedure, I received an ORA-01041: internal error HOSTDEF extension does not exist message concerning a certain database link. I also receive an ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel message as well. I assume that this is some sort of communication problem between the two servers, but they appear to be able to communicate. The procedure that uses this link is now producing this error consistently.

Does anybody have an idea as to what is going on or what I can do to try and resolve the problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.....

Did you try pinging the hosts from
one another? What do you see?

command: ping -s <host name/ ip address>
