friends,

I am trying to create a very small database for testing stand by databases. I have a space crunch on one of my linux boxes.

What is the smallest possible database that can be created in oracle9i

(any figures --- say SGA size etc.

I am looking to see if i can create the whole DB within 500MB)

(oracle9i installation itself eats up close to 3.5GB !!)

thanks

Oracle9i may take 3.5GB because you mye be installed full enterprise edition and options.
If customized installation were made, oracle would take less disk space.
You can create db with size you like, depending on what objects are you planning to create inside db.
You may try any size and you can resize datafiles later. That's what tests are for.
