There is something strange: I've tried to install both products in our site (on win2k, and win xp) but result was the same - Server manager can't connect to oracle service i.e.
svrmgrl internal/internal
tells "Protocol adapter error".
But when I start oracle.exe from the command line all goes OK.
Where is the pitfall?
p.s. all the time installation has been launched under local administrator account.

Hi Kostya,

Please see that the service for the database is started and set the environment varaible ORACLE_SID='INSTANCE NAME'.This should solve ur problem.

even instance creation script fails (it contains ORACLE_SID variable set) during this,
What amazes me a lot, Oracle service is up and running (I see it's up in the services applet and windows task manager).
So I can't find out, what is wrong ?
