Hi,

have u started your instance before ?
I'm interested in, because I plan migration my DB 8i to 9i on HP11.

Looks like your system tablespace corrupted. If your old version is 8.0.X to 8.1.5, your old database may had a slient corruption. Oracle9i check system tablespace corruption automatically when startup and fails. Your old database system did not do that.

Call Oracle and they have workaround.

Hope it helps.
