I'm having the same problem on HP-UX machine with Oracle9i. I set all the kernel parameter to what Oracle recommends.. gerrr!! any more suggestions???

Having the same problem trying to install Oracle9i on a patched Solaris 8. I am rolling patches back right now to try. If that fails, I will try a clean install of Solaris 8.
