Hi,

Few things I have configured at rman end. like

CONFIGURE RETENTION POLICY TO REDUNDANCY 2;
CONFIGURE DEFAULT DEVICE TYPE TO SBT;
CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP ON;
CONFIGURE DEVICE TYPE sbt PARALLELISM 2;

But I am not able to write script for taking backup on sbt tape.

Kindly suggest.

thanks

Pradeep

You cannot backup on tape unless you have a media manager software.
See Oracle9i Recovery Manager User's Guide
Chapter 1 Introduction to Recovery Manager
Section About the RMAN Media Management Interface

Hi Michal,

Thanks for your response. As I am looking in the docs link provided by you, media management software is required. It is saying "A media manager is not an Oracle product and must be obtained from a third-party vendor". So Can you suggest or tell me which type of media manager software available in the market and from where I can get the same.

Thanks Again.

Pradeep

IBM TDPO; Netbackup from Veritas; Networker... Ask your tape vendor, he will tell you if one exists for his products.
Oracle also sells a product named Oracle Secure Backup.

As well as those Michel mentioned, some HP sites use Omniback. There is an Omniback driver for RMAN. You'll have to buy it from HP. As far I can remember, the driver was written DB release 8 or 8i, but I used it with 9i too.

The following article in the Wiki gives you some of them with the associated link:
