Hi all,
I am very new to oracle. Having installed oracle 8i in windows 2000, when i wanted to create tables, I am getting the following message: ora-01034 oracle not available. What does this mean?
Can anyone please help?

Who are you logged in as? From server manager type in 'show sga', what does it tell you? If it tells you Oracle is not available, set the oracle sid, and startup the instance.

Let me know how things are.
