Hello

After starting TOAD you can choose which Oracle Home will be used.

I just manually made a copy oracle instant client 11.2 into the some directory of my local PC.
I setup system %PATH% and %TNS_ADMIN% variables into the User variables (Environment variables on "My Computer").

Now when I run TOAD (10.6.1.3) I dont see any Oracle Home (connect using).
But when I run older version of TOAD (9.7.2.5) I see that Oracle Home.

Could you please anybody tell me what can I do to see it ?

Thanks

I suspect that manually copying Oracle Client installation into a directory is much different from actually installing that Oracle product. Installation doesn't just "put files into a directory", but does certain settings into (for example) Windows Registry. TOAD might, on the other hand, rely on what it finds in that Registry and - being unable to find anything - displays nothing. Setting two environment variables appears to be insufficient to fool TOAD.

However, I might be very wrong. These are just my thoughts.

By the way, does your Client 11.2 work (the way you put it onto your PC)? Can you actually use it?

Older version of TOAD actually use this instant client without a problem.

How exactly did you do that?

Did you first copy Oracle client, then installed TOAD?
Or did you first install TOAD, then copied Oracle client?

If possible, uninstall TOAD. As Oracle client is already here, install TOAD again and see whether it will find the Client home.

Uninstalling Toad won't do anything to help.

If you click on the ellipsis button next to the oracle home selector it will do diagnostics and possibly show why your Home is not 'valid'

Have you connected via SQL*Plus to ensure the client software is available and working?
