Issue:
The following error is reported during data load from Microsoft Access to Oracle:
EXCEPTION : LoadTableData.run() : [[Microsoft]][[ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]] '(unknown)' is not a valid path. Make sure that the path name is spelled correctly and that you are connected to the server on which the file resides.
Explanation:
This error is most likely associated with the internal (i.e. not visible using Control Panel) ODBC DSN which is installed as part of the Migration Workbench. The most likely cause is that the Microsoft Access plug-in has been reinstalled into a different Oracle Home, or that the small.mdb file installed with the Migration Workbench has been deleted or moved.
Solution/Workaround:
Ensure that the $OMWB_HOME/Omwb/bin/small.mdb file exists. If it is missing, create a small Microsoft Access database called small.mdb in the $OMWB_HOME/Omwb/bin directory.
If the $OMWB_HOME/Omwb/bin/small.mdb file is present and the problem is still occuring, you should take the following steps:
Close the Migration Workbench session
Invoke the Start-> Run menu.
Type regedit in the Open box in the Run dialog.
*** PLEASE TAKE EXTREME CARE IN THE REGEDIT SESSION ***
Perform the following steps from regedit:
Expand the HKEY_CURRENT_USER tree.
Expand the Software tree.
Expand the ODBC tree.
Expand the ODBC.INI tree.
Select the omwb_msaccess item.
Ensure you have the correct item (omwb_msaccess) highlighted, Right-click, and select Delete. You will be prompted to confirm the deletion; select Yes.
Exit regedit.
Start the Migration Workbench again:
Log into the Migration Workbench.
Choose Action -> Capture Source Database.
Once the Welcome dialog box appears, select Cancel.
NB You do not have to recapture your Microsoft Access database; just launch the Capture wizard and select Cancel.
This last step will reinstall the Migration Workbench Microsoft Access ODBC DSN with the correct file location details. You should then be able to migrate the data from Microsoft Access to Oracle.
