I want that only the application machines should have
access to the database. In other words I want to have
a restricted access (machine level) on the database
and that too for 1 or 1 specific machines.

To achive the above I have made added the ip addresses of the machines which can access the database in protocol.ora

But still I can access the database from any machine
within the network. The configuartion setting (in
PROTOCOL.ORA) is not able restrict only to specified machines.

Can somebody please suggest I can achieve the above

DATABASE : Oracle 8.x
OS: UNIX/ WinNT 4.0

Thanks in advance
