During an experiment on my testing database installed on window xp i first took the backup of the whole database with the configuration of auto backup of the control files. I deleted the control files.
When going on rman tool again as the database is in the nomount stage.I hane no dbid as I forgot to note dbid number when i connected to rman during the backup time.
I can't find the dbid from v$database as database is in nomount stage.
Can i still retrieve my dbid so as to find my database online and running.

Thanks in Advance.

If you did not specify a format on your backup then you have the dbid in the backup names.

I don't know what "it" refers to.

-if you had not explicitly set controlfile autobackup location you can find autobackups in default location
-you can find backup piece name in the logfile of the backup you had run

Search for this autobackup file in the oracle home directory. try using the name of your database in the search parameter
