All,

I have Oracle 10.2.0.4 running on Solaris 8. We have a new Solaris 10 server. What we'd like to do is install Oracle binaries on disks local to new Solaris 10 box and then simply mount the SAN containing the Oracle database files that were previously mounted by Solaris 8 server. Assuming all environment variable etc. are set correctly in new Solaris 10 environment can we simply start the database up?

Yes, the Oracle s/w is too dumb to know anything has changed.
