We are running Oracle Names Server, we have moved one
of our Production Databases on Diff. Server.

Now i want to modify the entry of same on Oracle Names server. I tried deleting the entry using namesctl
but it remains there cached and adding another entry
gives me a duplicate warning

Can anybody tell me the correct way of doing it.

Thanks in Advance

Hi,

You should be able to deregister a name from the Net8 Assistant or from the namesctl command line. Look at this example:

NAMESCTL> query db1 *
NAMESCTL> help unregister
NAMESCTL> unregister db1 -d (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=...

Type the complete address on one line, exactly as listed with the query command.

Hope it helps.
