I'm running some perl cgi-scripts (with DBD:oracle / DBI) on the same machine that the Oracle server runs on.

When I'm connecting to oracle there is a delay, randomly
between 0.5 and 5 seconds before the connection
gets established. (and I don't want to wait 5 seconds
for the webpages)
I've made an entry in tnsnames.ora with both TCP and
IPC protocols, and I get the delay with both.
I also get the delay when I connect from svrmgrl, so
it doesn't seem to be the perl module.

Anyone have a clue?

The occasions I have had this experience with 7.x databases it was usually due to SGA size.
