Hi,

According to the documentation on the Oracle 8.0.5 (Enterprise Edition) it should be fairly simple to connect to the database with Sql*net 2.3.4. The only problem is that it doesn't work. The server is running on NT4, sp4 and the client is running on Windows 95 and it should communicate via TCP/IP over a LAN. Does anyone have an idea how to configure this? Could anyone post an example of the configuration file(s)?
Many thanks for any help,

Christiaan Knaap

Hi,
If you are sure that you are using SQLNET234 on the client, check for the existance of %ORACLE_HOME%/NETWORK/ADMIN/TNSNAMES.ORA file( not %ORACLE_HOME%/NET80/admin/tnsnames.ora). If not found (may be even the directory, create the directory/file and you sould be Ok.

Or a simpler solution will be to install an additional SQLNET client product.
